Watch the old Disney movies...

... and then think about this (from the Anibator blog of course):

... I'm sick of the voice casting in animation. Go back to the theatre like in the 50's..and get some rich voices that actually improve a movie...

And what I think is the most annoying byproduct of celebrity voice casting...making the character look like the actor. That has to stop. Are you listening SKG?

I completely agree.

well sure i agree as much as the next but going back to the 50s isn't a whole world of difference. in lady and the tramp, peg is played by peggy lee (and drawn in her likeness as well). also ed wynn playing the mad hatter is also clear.

Which is true, but nowadays celebrities are much more hyped and pushed into everybody's life. It's getting really difficult (maybe it's just me) to see or hear beyond the celebrity voice. Plus being a celebrity doesn't mean that your voice will fit the character (Bee Movie) or that your voice is strong enough when separated from its famous face.

As a whole, the industry should look for unknown but talented voice actors (like the baby sitter in "The Incredibles", which was an employee).
