Ok, this is from the Blu-ray conference, so not exactly an un-biased report, but still:
- Blu-ray holds 90% market share in Japan for both movies and hardware
- In US Blu-ray has 63% standalone unit market share and over 66% of hi def disc sales
- 70% of hi def sales in Europe are Blu-ray with 3:1 ratio over HD DVD
Let's just declare Blu-ray the winner and have Paramount release their movies on it. Come on, enough is enough... - found @ Gizmodo

Billy Finkelstein (TV's "Murder One," "Law & Order," "NYPD Blue") has been hired to pen "Bad Lieutenant '08", a feature described as "less a sequel or a prequel than an attempt to take the raw material of the original film and weave it into 21st century, post- 9/11 New York.

Is that the new thing? Overweight kids/adults with afros? Or at least one cast member with an afro? From the guys that brought you Knocked Up and Superbad, comes Drillbit Taylor. And just like California Florists points out, the cast is just a younger version of Superbad. Odd thing to see Owen Wilson after his alleged suicide attempt.

Important part during the interview: Just because a company doesn't get back to you after you sent your reel to them doesn't mean that you are not good enough, but that the company is looking for a specific resume. If a company is not looking for what you're offering (no matter how good you are), then you won't get hired.
Scary. From Apple:
A cinematic bullet into the cerebral cortex, a documentary that unflinchingly exploring the cycles of violence that plague Brazil’s upper and lower economic classes in fits of rampant corruption and violent kidnappings. The film chronicles these cycles by utilizing highly personalized stories that reflect the growing truth about Brazil’s huge economic disparities-differences that cause violence on both sides of the spectrum.

Hello, this is Iwata from Nintendo. You may not know from an outsiders point of view, but being a director is really hard! When things are really busy and stressful we (us directors) may look tired and sick, then people may feel sorry for us! But in my case, it's the opposite, I get fatter and fatter, so then people don't think I'm stressed at all!

I can see why he doesn't like the all bluescreen/greenscreen experience. Too bad though, he certainly was one of the few good things about the movies. Liam Neeson was good too though. And Darth Maul. Little Ani? Not so much... Oh well...
AICN has the rumor. You never know. If your career is not going as planned, go back to money makers. Just like Diesel doing Fast and Furious 4. And why not? Gotta pay the bills.

How to fit 1TB of data on one CD-sized disc - News
Blu-ray and HD DVD have pushed the limits of optical storage further than anyone thought possible. But a new technology has emerged which makes Blu-ray’s 50GB capacity look tiny. Mempile in Israel says it’s able to fit an incredible 1TB of data onto one “TeraDisc” which is the same size as CDs and DVDs. That’s 20 times the capacity of a maxed-out dual-layer Blu-ray disc.
The incredible capacity achieved using this new technology is made possible by employing 200 5GB layers, each one only five microns apart. The discs are completely transparent to the red lasers which are used in the associated recorder.
Prototypes have already been made to store up to 800GB of data, and Mempile says it will crack the 1TB barrier before moving on to build 5TB blue laser disks.
Dr Beth Erez, Mempile’s Chief Marketing Officer says that the first 1TB disks have a lifespan of 50 years and could be on the shelves in two to three years.
On a 1TB disc, you could store:
* 212 DVD-quality movies
* 250,000 MP3 files
* 1,000,000 large Word documents
Here's a nice quote:
I have a son that has lots of fun with Wii Sports. Topspin on Wii will have completely different play mechanic and a different focus. There’ll be no big heads and no players without legs. We are taking into account the direction of the move and how fast you’re doing it. My six-year-old son just wants to move. He doesn’t care if what he’s doing is specifically represented on screen. But we [hardcore gamers] want it to recognise the move, so it’s not so simple.It’s a real tennis game. Wii Sports Tennis is a wonderful game but in Topspin you will have to move your character and do different swings. You can move normally and that’ll be fine - you will just perform regular swings. But if you want to perfect your technique you will need to practise. So I like to say it’s a finished game on Wii.”

Comingsoon.net has an exclusive interview with Zachary Quinto.
CS/SHH!: Did you audition for the role and have to campaign to get Spock?
Quinto: I do think I campaigned for it. I definitely put it out there that I'd be interested for it. I think there was a progression that made sense to the people that are making the movie in terms of exposure and my experience of the show and the nature of the show and the sort of crossover fan base. I went in and put myself on tape for the casting directors back in April. Then I left the country a couple of days after that for a while to travel during the summer. Immediately when I got back, like two days later they had set up a meeting. J.J. had called to set up a meeting. Two days later, there was a lot of negotiating and figuring out schedules. June 7th I think is when the offer came in and then July 26th or 27th is when we announced it at Comic-Con.

He goes on a little more about the subjects the film covers - "I think the perspective of ‘Body of Lies’ is ongoing. It’s machinations and creations of the American government, in terms of its foreign policy. I don’t think it’s so responsive to what’s happening now — because what’s happening now is actually the fruit of seeds planted two or three decades ago, if not more. But I think it’s timely to do a movie like that … it’s important, and Ridley is up for [portraying] the true negatives of this web of intrigue that’s been created."
