Gizmodo got a video of the AT-AT in action. It's cute how Luke gets thrown around.

Oh boy. The director of "Die Hard", "Predator", "Hunt for Red October", etc. has to go to jail for 4 months for lying to the FBI, wiretapping, or whatever it is. Too bad. Not that I know the guy, I'm just making the superficial conclusion that since I liked his movies, he's a good guy. :)
For more about the case, head over to Dark Horizons.
Great name! And I totally agree. Also the book that they quote is a very good one. Head over to Gizmodo for the analysis of the current market place and how many companies offer too many versions of their products. Just spend some time on Gizmodo and marvel at how many "new cellphone by suchandsuch" posts there are.
Uh oh. I hope nothing changes (unless for the better of course) with the Slingbox. The best piece of hardware since Tivo. Wherever you have web access, you can access the device which is attached to the Slingbox. Most of the time it's probably your Tivo (or any other DVR). From MIT Tech:In recognition of the release of Halo 3, a highly anticipated video game by Microsoft and Bungie, MIT hackers adorned the John P. Harvard statue, in Harvard Yard, with a Spartan helmet. The back of the helmet, which is worn by the protagonist of the game, Master Chief, was labeled with “Master Chief in Training.” The statue was decorated with an assault rifle (bullet count of 2E), as well as a Beaver emblem on the right shoulder.

The evil Baby Bowser has cast a spell turning Yoshi’s Island into a picture book. Worse yet, the Super Happy Tree has been stolen, making the island dark and gloomy. Players must take control of six Yoshis, each a different color, and travel through six pages (worlds) of platforming adventure to recover the tree and return the island to normal. Featuring huge character models and bright, vibrant colors, the game’s various environments (such as woods, caves, mountains and oceans) come alive in a uniquely gorgeous 2½-D look. Eat fruit, avoid enemies and obstacles, and throw eggs from the Yoshis’ never-ending supply in your quest to stop Baby Bowser’s plan from succeeding. If you’re good enough, you can aim for higher scores by being picky about the fruit you eat. And who knows, you might even find the mysterious black and white Yoshis.

Germany’s upper house of parliament on Friday approved a controversial copyright law, which makes it all but illegal for individuals to make copies of films and music, even for their own use.
The Bundesrat pushed aside criticism from consumer protection groups and passed the law, which makes it illegal for anyone to store DVDs and CDs without permission. The law also covers digital copies from IPTV and TV broadcasts.
Consumer groups and the Green Party had campaigned in vain to include a “bagatelle exemption,” so that the measure would not “criminalize” youths and other private users. The law is set to take effect in 2008.
Check out the transforming thing at the end. NSFW for some people.
Somewhere on the web it says that Michael Bay and Steven Spielberg have signed on for a summer 2009 release of Transformers 2.
There's a book that has magical qualities – and not all for the good. The Spiderwick Chronicles is a world created by Arthur Spiderwick. There's goblins, Hogsqueals, snakes, monsters, trolls, and much more. When the book falls into the wrong hands, all heck is about to break out.

Tim Alexander and Tim Harrington of ILM gave us a history lesson of the 27 years of ILM that was so spectacular, I couldn't just write a one or two paragraph insert. A separate story on just ILM will be popping up in the very near future.

This is from Kotaku about Resident Evil 5:
Remember that Resident Evil 5-is-racist brouhaha? The E3 trailer showed large numbers of black zombies getting killed, which set off a firestorm of controversy. Killing black zombies? Masked racism, critics say. According to our well-placed insider, there is a reason for that: Resident Evil 5 takes place in Haiti, zombism's spiritual home. Speculation was that it took place in either Africa or Carribean. And yes, according to our insider, the setting is apparently Haiti. Makes sense!
That's a very neat idea, but unfortunately, with most neat ideas, it's just a design... - found @ Gizmodo
Watch it @ Kotaku
Of course, you gotta have boobies for the gamers. It's a quick thing though. The military woman's hair cracks me up. And why do characters, who jump a long distance and land on a roof or ground in that Blade pose always have to land with their heads facing the ground, then keep the head low for I don't know how long, then look up dramatically? Nevermind, bad mood today. Another boob shot courtesy of Big Mama, gross. At least Sunny doesn't have cleavage. Fart joke at the end? Then burping? Oh boy.
But all in all a very cool movie. :)
How cool is that?!?!??!? Eurobricks also has a pic of a motorized AT-AT.
Hmm... a little projector like that in a tiny iPod touch? Yeah right, would be cool though. - found @ Gizmodo
According to TV Guide, this is what Lucas said about the Sean Connery character:
"It's just a completely different character, so you're not invested in him in any way. The fact that that character, after the first part of the movie, isn't needed doesn't become a problem. Whereas I think with the scene we had, where [Indy] says goodbye to his dad, everybody was, "Wait a minute! Isn't he coming back?" So in the end, I think it turned out for the best. Sean just retired and he wants to stay retired, and I understand that. [Laughs] I think he just said, "Look, I've done it, I've done it." He was very tempted, you know, and we talked for a long time. But in the end, he just said, "Eh, I'm playing golf."

Before I post anything nerdy, I just have to post this. I'm not going to discuss the believes of evolution, creationism, etc. because they are what they are called, beliefs. BUT. The fact that the world is basically a ball, has nothing to do with believes. That's just a plain fact. To actually DISCUSS that fact, it's unbelievable...
Taken from BOINGBOING:
The View co-host Sherri Shephard told her other co-hosts that she does not believe in the theory of evolution. Whoopi Goldberg then asked her if she thought the world was flat. Here's the transcript of the conversation that followed.
WHOOPI GOLDBERG: Is the world flat?
SHERRI SHEPHERD: Is the world flat? (laughter)
GOLDBERG: Yes.
SHEPHERD: …I Don’t know.
GOLDBERG: What do you think?
SHEPHERD: I… I never thought about it, Whoopi. Is the world flat? I never thought about it.
BARBARA WALTERS: You’ve never thought about whether the world was round or flat?
SHEPHERD: I tell you what I’ve thought about. How I’m going to feed my child–
WALTERS: Well you can do both.
SHEPERD: …how I’m going to take care of my family. The world, is the world flat has never entered into, like that has not been an important thing to me.
ELIZABETH HASSELBECK: You’ll teach your son, Jeffery, right?
SHEPHERD: If my son, Jeffery, asks me ‘is the world flat,’ I guess I would go…
JOY BEHAR: You know, didn’t some person already work this question out? I mean, why are we doing this again? (laughter, applause)
I'm still waiting for a super sweet pocket projector, but this one is a very cool start. 2200 ANSI lumens? Wow. 2000:1 contrast ratio? All that in a 2.9 pound, 8.3 inches wide and 6.5 inches deep projector? 1024x768? Hm.... $999? HMM...... - found @ Gizmodo
You know, as cool as this looks like (and it's super nerdy cool), the screen is just not that big. Whenever I see home theaters which display a big financial and time investment, the one thing lacking is a big screen. More about it @ Gizmodo

I don't know about that one. I have a feeling that the Wii functionality has been added to the game as a gimmick and that it wasn't part of the initial production. It's going to be like Red Steel
Press Release found @ GoNintendo.
SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. Sept. 18, 2007 - LucasArts today revealed that Star Wars: The Force Unleashed will come to the Wii home videogame system from Nintendo next spring, offering owners the unique chance to live out their Jedi fantasies by wielding the Wii Remote as a lightsaber while using the Nunchuk controller to torment foes with their Force powers.
The Force Unleashed casts players as Darth Vader’s Secret Apprentice and promises to unveil new revelations about the Star Wars galaxy. The game’s expansive story is set during the largely unexplored era between Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith and Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope. In it, players will assist the iconic villain in his quest to rid the universe of Jedi and face decisions that could change the course of their destiny.
The Wii version, in development by Krome Studios, will also add an exclusive duel mode in which players can compete head-to-head with their friends to determine the ultimate Jedi Master.
“The Wii is a great platform for The Force Unleashed, because the console’s motion-oriented controllers really bring the game to life,” said Jim Ward, President of LucasArts. “We’ve worked hard to make the Wii version of the game unique in order to truly let you unleash the Force.”
"Transformers" director Michael Bay confirms on his official message board that he's keen to work on the "Transformers" sequel pre-strike (June 2008) but "I might jump ship and come back a year or so later cause people at the studio have been dragging for two months"..."

Seems like I haven't been on the Wii homepage for a while. I was pleasantly surprised to see that they have video previews for all their Virtual Console titles.
It would be cool to have a list of just Genesis games, or NES games, just an option to sort per console, or date, or price, etc. instead of one big list. Maybe there is a way, but I haven't seen it.
Another sweet image gallery, this time a collection of movie titles. Head over here for it.

Star Wars Episode IV may have recently been named the most influential visual effects film of all time but its director, George Lucas, was unsatisfied with the technology available in the 70s.
He went on to create his own effects company, Industrial Light and Magic (ILM), which pioneered new ways of getting the shots he wanted.
