Animated Mace Maquette - One last post...

Ok, I couldn't resist. Check this out:

"Hyperspace members who collect Gentle Giant's celebrated Clone Wars animated maquettes will want to head over to StarWarsShop on Friday, July 20, when the final maquette in the collection based on the Emmy Award Winning Cartoon Network series goes up for sale: Mace Windu!

Limited to 1,000 pieces worldwide and exclusive to, Hyperspace members will get first crack at grabbing this stunning exclusive, which will have a limit of one per person. After three days (Friday afternoon through Monday morning, PST), whatever units remain will be offered to the general public."

The maquette is available now. What saddens me is that this is the final version. No Palpatine? Biker Scout? Snow Trooper? Tarkin? Ackbar? Any imperial guy in grey or black? Rebel blockade soldiers in waiting pose ready to shoot the invading stormtroopers? Luke in ANH outfit, with one foot on the rock, looking at the twin suns? Lando? Dooku? Ewoks?

Oh well... - found @

UPDATE: Mr. Anonymous posted a correction by saying that this is only the last piece from the Clone Wars series and that there will be more from the Original Trilogy. SWEET!

Ghosts of Cité Soleil - Trailer

found @ iwatchstuff

Can't go wrong with the Zelda Master Sword

It's not a Wii-mote add-on, but I'm sure a mod with turn up sooner or later, with youtube video evidence of course. Until then, head over to for the details and the bargain price of $90 (down from $130). - found @ GoNintendo

Custom Action Figures

Neat idea by herobuilders! You can completely customize these figures as you wish. The base model is expensive (but custom!), any additional copy pretty cheap. Have any friends that are in love with themselves? Perfect birthday gift! - found @ uncrate

Animation Backgrounds and Multiplane Cameras

Head over to animation-treasures for tons of beautiful backgrounds. - found @ Cartoon Brew

this is for everybody who wants to learn from the masters.
if you are wondering how all these composited pans were
done, let me explain the technique -
with image capture software you can grab very precise key
frames of camera pans. these frames can be mounted together
and touched up a bit in photoshop to recreate nearly the
identical original background that was used for the film.
I guess not too many people know that in the case of BAMBI,
only a few backgrounds are left in the Disney archives.
most of the film’s scenes were several layer multiplane
combinations, which means that the different foreground and
middle-ground layers had to be painted on glass.

Frank Zappa on Crossfire

Not exactly nerdy, but since the entertainment industry is always dealing with censorship, I thought it'd be appropriate to post this here. Either way, it's a fascinating watch and sad at the same time to be witness of such close minded people. "Fascist theocracy", Zappa had it right, that's where we are at now.

(Head over to GoNintendo in case the embedding doesn't work) Watch how Jamie Kennedy makes a complete fool out of himself. And for that he got paid how much?

Interesting puzzle game, really showcases the power of the PS3. Movie @ Kotaku

Wii Fit Parody

Rose & Camellia

Kotaku describes this flash game as "the greatest game ever made" and I think it comes very close. The game is as simple as they describe it: "This is Rose & Camellia. It's set in the 19th century. You play a woman. You slap other women. That's it."

That's indeed it and it's really funny, but obviously wears off after a few seconds.

Cashback - Trailer

"Cashback" looks interesting, more like a netflix choice, but still. Maybe I shouldn't have watched it after the Coen movie...

No Country For Old Men - Trailer

I love the Coen Brothers movies and "No Country For Old Men" looks fantastic as well. Great cast and wardrobe, love the look.

Watch the "The Last Legion" trailer @ Yahoo! Movies

Wow, could there be any more LOTR references? Add some Gladiator in there as well. And for some reason I'm brainwashed to think about The Matrix when I hear "the one". But the "Not as many as I thought." line was good. As well as the "Beauty and the Beast" homage. (pic source)

"The Walker" is Paul Schrader's new movie with a very interesting cast. The trailer can be found @

X-Files the Movie pt.II?

Mulder says there is a good chance. I like this part:

  • "I'm actually supposed to see it next week! Before I would just say that [there was a movie] because they told me, but now, after talking to Chris [Carter] -- he's been giving me progress reports - and he actually called yesterday, and said 'Next week, you should have something to read.'"

Indiana Jones 5, 6 and 7?

  • Despite reports that 65-year-old Harrison Ford is doing all his own stunts and is fighting a courageous battle against incontinence, Paramount has taken no chances with the franchise, signing Shia LaBeouf for three additional Indy pictures, or at least the option to.

Zack & Wiki: Quest for Barbaros' Treasure - Wii

I don't know what's up with IGN movies right now, they don't seem to show up, but again, might just be me.
Anyway, this is a clip of Zack & Wiki, a good old point and click adventure/puzzle game (hear that, LucasArts? How about a best-of SCUMM collection for the Wii or DS????). Click here for the direct link. There are other sweet clips, but check out the "Gameplay Clip" and fast forward to 1:45. WOW! That's a kids game?! :-)

Harry Potter 5 still makes tons of money

Holy cash cow!

  • In the US, it took in a $77.4 million opening weekend. Combined with near that amount again on its first two days of business on Wednesday and Thursday, the film tallied up a whopping $140 million in its first five days of business.
  • "Phoenix" also smashed records overseas, taking in an estimated $190.3 million overseas from 44 territories, and bringing its worldwide cume to $330.3 million.
How times change.

Beowulf Score is a Back to the Future Rip Off

Ok, maybe that's a strong statement.

Alan Silvestri is doing the score for Zemeckis' "Beowulf" and damn it, if that isn't part of the "Back to the Future" theme in this piece then I'll be damned. Looks like the old masters are doomed to recycle everything. Still not as embarrassingly bad as David Arnold.

Nintendo Wii Virtual Console Monday

Paper Mario® (Nintendo® 64, 1 player, Rated E for Everyone—Comic Mischief, 1,000 Wii Points):
Paper Mario is a graphically innovative game that breaks from the confines of the RPG genre. Now slimmed down, everyone’s favorite plumber flips, spins, jumps and hammers his way through scads of exotic worlds that teem with a huge and hugely entertaining supporting cast. Players control numerous old and new characters in a complex, nonlinear story that follows different scenarios depending on player choices. A dizzying collection of spells, attacks, skills and special items can be collected by players willing to thoroughly explore the lush 3-D environments.

Balloon Fight® (NES®, 1-2 players, Rated E for Everyone, 500 Wii Points):
Control a character to pop your opponents’ balloons before they pop yours. Sounds easy, doesn’t it? Don’t be fooled by this game’s simple premise or cute exterior. Underneath you’ll find a surprisingly addictive game with strategy to spare. After mastering the easy-to-learn controls, you still have to get a grip on the game’s impressively realistic physics. And if that’s not enough, there are the ever-increasing enemies and environmental hazards like lightning and water. Try the game’s second mode, Balloon Trip, if you feel like taking a break from the action and just want to see how long you can stay aloft. And hey, who doesn’t like popping balloons sometimes?

Silent Debuggers (TurboGrafx16, 1 player, Rated E for Everyone—Fantasy Violence, 600 Wii Points):
Make your way through a dungeon-like space station and defeat the prowling monsters in this real-time first-person shooter. You’re a member of the elite Debuggers, a group of warriors who are jacks-of-all-trades. Assigned to inspect an unmanned space station, you have exactly 100 minutes to get in, destroy the monsters lurking in each block, make your way to the lowest level and deactivate the automatic detonator placed there. With each monster that slips by you, the core block becomes harder to survive in, so speed is key in preserving the facility and each separate block. Experience the thrill of survival as the timer ticks away and you uncover the truth of the events that occurred.

The Shark is Still Working

Before you read this, it must be said that the following does not mean the The Shark is Still Working is available yet. We wish more than anything that this article could be featuring good tidings of the imminent release of the doc; that at long last a distribution agreement has been made and it is coming your way very soon.

Unfortunately, we still have to save that news for another day, but today's news is pretty cool too. We now have a new official trailer to share with you! It's not just something that we reworked simply for the sake of having something new to throw out there however. There is a uniqueness to it that we can add to the long list of poetic fortunes that have graced our project every step of the way. You'll see what we mean as you read on.

Read on indeed and watch the trailer, I can't wait to see the movie!

Yes Man

MTV News got this to say about Jim Carrey's new movie "Yes Man":

  • “It’s about a man who finds himself very depressed, and is always saying no. When friends ask him out, he always says no,” Heyman said of the script. “[The film will explore] what happens when he decides to say yes to every thing that comes his way.”

Dracula Year Zero

I'm always up for a vampire movie (just like any type of time travel movies). Looks like Alex Pryoas (I, Robot and The Crow) is filming "Dracula Year One". From Dark Horizons:

  • Universal's origins tale about Vlad the Impaler and one of several films about the Romanian royal who inspired Bram Stoker's vampire tale.
  • Scribes Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless tell Variety that the goal was to show Vlad when he was still vital and to explore the fact that he's considered a hero in Romania for fending off the Turks.
  • The aim was too play off the horror and the sympathy you have for a character that "sells his soul to the Devil to save his kingdom and family." Michael De Luca produces.

Archos 605 Wifi mp3/mp4 player
